Golden Milk

Golden Milk

Whatcha drinkin’? Me, I am currently sipping on this Golden Milk. Do you ever have one of those moments where curling up under a comfy blanket & just exhaling is the only thing that makes sense. I don’t get to have those moments a lot, but you better believe when I do I fully lean in to them. So for me that means a hot, steaming mug of this soothing liquid. The warm spices & creamy coconut milk just induce a sense of calm & serenity. It slows me in my tracks every time. In fact, I could probably just smell it & relax. So if you need 10 minutes to release those shoulders & cozy up then go make this delicious cup.

Now if you’ve followed along you may know that “calm & serene” moments only happen for me when I get alone time on the yoga mat & morning meditations. The rest of the time I am go, go, go & just happen to live with a loud (I’m not sure I’ve met a louder human) live-wire & two crazy cats so “serene” is not the usual vibe. That doesn’t mean I forgo this golden milk. I will get my caffeine dose in by turning it into a latte with some espresso or will add it to my chai for all those warm spicy notes on overdrive.

Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 cups coconut milk sub plant based milk of choice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a small sauce pan over medium low heat add all the ingredients & bring to a low simmer. Serve in your favorite mug with an additional sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

Personally, I think this is best with coconut milk, but you are more than welcome to use any other plant based milk I would just use an unsweetened, unflavored version.  If you only have sweetened you may want to reduce or omit the maple syrup.
Need some caffeine?  Add a shot of espresso & turn this into a latte or pour a little into your favorite cup of chai for double the warm spices.
Enjoy!
